There is a significant and growing concern today regarding the consumption of highly acidic beverages, particularly soft drinks and ‘healthy tonics’ like apple cider vinegar. The acidity in these drinks can dissolve and erode (etch) human dental enamel, leading to permanent damage to the surfaces of teeth that are frequently exposed to these acids.
If you choose to consume these acidic drinks, we recommend using a straw to minimize contact with your teeth. Additionally, rinse your mouth with a mixture of one teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water, and then wait at least half an hour before brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste. Regular consumption of acidic beverages is likely to result in dental damage, which can be costly to repair.
